Since the new administration took office in USA there is a new challenge in the foreign policy for Trump. Under the Obama presidency, the mullahs had free hands to shut down any protest like the 2009 uprising with force, because Obama turned a blind eye when the mullahs started killing Iranian youth in the streets.
The mullahs had free hands to expand their meddling in Iraq and Syria without retribution for their crimes against people in the middle east. The mullahs continue their missile tests after Trump took office and Trump put Iran in "on notice list, but Iran did not stop their examination on lang range missiles.
