Iran-International women’s day March 8

We have been marking the international women’s day in many different ways over the years. Here in the west it has been protests about free abortion and other issues that are quite obscure for the Iranian women. The fight they are fighting is quite different. They are fighting for the right of being treated as human beings. In Iran a woman is her father’s property first, and later the property of her husband. She has no right to work, travel or shop unless she has permission from a male relative or her husband.

The list of things that an Iranian woman is forbidden of doing is long. She is not allowed to ride a bike because it is bad for her chastity. ??? An Iranian woman is not allowed to watch men's sports. There are many strange prohibitions that are very strange if you see it from a western woman's point of view.  An Iranian woman/ girl is not allowed to object if her father decides to marry her off at the age of 9. Child brides are quite usual in Iran and a woman is not allowed to ask for a divorce, that right is for men only.  In Iran women are not allowed to choose their own clothing there are strict rules. Women have to obey the compulsatory hijab law. Women are also prevented from various educations that the mullahs consider as masculine professions.

In her speech, she pointed out that the people of the world are now aware of that the Iranian regime is behind a great export of terrorism, war and fundamentalism and for their effort to make nuclear weapons. As a result of that she said that two major realities have gone less noticed: in conjunction with its export of terrorism and fundamentalism to the region, also the prime advocate of misogyny in those countries. Therefore, it should be considered as the most dangerous threat to women’s achievements in today’s world. And Second is the fact that these defiant women have had a significant role in the fight against Iran’s ruling fundamentalists.

International women day meeting in Albania
That women bear the brunt of repression in Iran, reveals the regime’s defensive tactic against the existential threat it feels from women. The impression of the mandatory veil on women and flagrant discriminations against them in educational and vocational arenas are only efforts to enchain women; otherwise, the mullahs would not be able to preserve their power. And they will be toppled by these women.  On the other side, women have proven their effective and growing role in the struggle against the mullahs’religious tyranny, The men of this movement also sent a message for our sons, brothers and Fathers in Iran to rise up in defense of freedom and equality. She also offered congratulations on the international women’s day to women across Iran, the brave female political prisoners, & to men and women who seek freedom and equality. She also commemorated all those women who have been tortured or executed by the clerical regime in the course of their struggle against the velayat-e faqih.

Iran-A Message for international Women day(IWD)

Maryam Rajavi president-elect of Iranian resistance
Meeting in UK parliament for IWD

On February 28, 2017 Mrs Maryam Rajavi , the president elect of the Iranian resistance sent a message to a meeting at the UK parliament, in occation of the international women's day
on March 8.
the message she sent was as follows: "Women is the force for change" the following is the full text of her speech:

I sincerely appreciate your attention to the situation of women and human rights in Iran on the occasion of the
International Women's Day.
The mullahs' aggressions in the Middle East and its nuclear and missile programs have drawn much attention.
However, we must highlight these vital realities in Iran:
A deep political and social crisis, a society ready for change, and an organized movement in which women have an important role.
Under the clerical rule, women are systematically suppressed.
On average 2000 women are arrested daily for not observing the forced dress code.
According to the law, women must obey their husbands; they are deprived of the right to divorce.
If they get divorced, they are deprived of the care of their children.
When it comes to the regime’s Penal Code: women's rights is half of men's.
Although women make up a large work-force, they only take 14 percent of the job market.
In September 2016 the mullahs' supreme leader- Khamenei in a declaration announced that women's role is being a mother and a housewife while men's role is fatherhood and economic.
He also called for enforced government policies to increase birth rate.
In fact, by repressing women, the mullahs enslave the whole society.
On the other hand, however, Iranian women play a significant role in the Iranian people’s resistance against this religious tyranny.
