On Saturday 12, 2017 a senior delegation from the United States Senate met with NCRI’s President-elect Maryam Rajavi in Tirana the Capital of Albania. The agenda for this meeting was that of the situation for the members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) in Albania, the latest developments in Iran and the middle east as well as solutions to end the current crises in the middle east region.

Attending the meeting was Senator Roy Blunt, Vice President of the Republican Conference, and members of the Appropriation, Select Intelligence, Rules and Administration, and Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committees; John Cornyn, the Majority Whip and a member of the Judiciary, Select Intelligence, and Finance committees; and Thom Tillis, a member of the Armed Services, Judiciary, Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs and Veterans’ Affairs committees.
Maryam Rajavi thanked the senators for their decisive position vis-a-vis the Iranian regime referring to the latest sanctions against Iran and for putting IRGC on the terror list. She expressed gratitude for the efforts of the U.S Senate, particularly Senator Blunt, regarding the safe relocation of MEK members from Camp Liberty in Iraq to Albania.

Mrs. Rajavi also spoke of the necessity of a regime change in Iran, and that a regime change is within reach since the regime has shown signs of being fragile and weak.and that there is a democratic alternative ready to take over and give freedom and democracy to the suppressed people of Iran. And to bring peace and tranquility to the whole region.

As Mrs.Rajavi was stating a regime change in Iran will be the only option to save the country and its people. One other issue that will be dealt with accordingly as soon as the regime is overthrown is the wish for justice for the victims of the 1988 massacre. The culprits of this hideous crime now hold key positions in the regime’s government. The only way to assure that the criminals are tried and prosecuted is that the entire regime is removed and replaced with a democratic opposition movement the NCRI (PMOI/MEK).
Mrs. Rajavi has been struggling to bring freedom and democracy to Iran for over 40 years, she has dedicated her whole life to the fight for a free Iran. So the very notion that more and more prominent politicians have supported the cause is of great importance and are most appreciated by the Iranian resistance.

This meeting in Tirana marks an important milestone for the Iranian resistance as the world leaders are giving their support to a movement that has suffered terrible losses at the hands of the murderous mullahs in Tehran. Over the years more than 120 000 opposition members have been killed by the current regime, it is, therefore, a great relief to the Iranian people that the world finally takes a stand and are standing shoulder to shoulder with the peace loving people of Iran in their struggle for freedom.
